Spring Hill, FL – One Dead, One Seriously Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Spring Hill Dr at Godfrey Ave

September 25, 2025

Spring Hill, FL (September 25, 2025) – A tragic multi-vehicle accident on Spring Hill Dr left one man dead and several others injured Wednesday evening, prompting a continued investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.

Emergency responders from Spring Hill arrived at the scene following reports of a serious crash at the intersection of Spring Hill Dr and Godfrey Ave. Medics and fire crews worked urgently to assist those hurt in the collision, which involved a Toyota Corolla, a BMW X6, and a Jeep Renegade.

Authorities say 31-year-old Spring Hill resident Alexes Mishel Haynes was driving a Toyota Corolla westbound in a continuous left-turn lane when she attempted a left turn at the intersection. During the maneuver, her vehicle entered the path of an oncoming eastbound BMW X6, resulting in a violent collision. The impact caused the Corolla to spin and strike a Jeep Renegade that had been stopped at the intersection.

A 50-year-old male passenger in the Corolla sustained critical injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. Haynes was also seriously injured and hospitalized. Following medical treatment, she was placed under arrest and now faces charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving death and driving with a suspended license involving a death.

The driver of the BMW, a 38-year-old woman from Brooksville, and her 10-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries. The 41-year-old Spring Hill woman driving the Jeep was not injured.

All lanes in the area were affected for several hours as troopers investigated the sequence of events. Further details will be released as the Florida Highway Patrol continues to examine the crash.

We extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the man who lost his life. Our thoughts are also with the injured as they begin their recovery.

Left-Turn Accidents and Legal Ramifications in Florida

Left-turn collisions are among the most dangerous types of crashes on Florida roadways. The deadly accident at Spring Hill Dr and Godfrey Ave highlights the serious consequences that can result from one misjudged turn—especially when combined with other high-risk driving behaviors.

In this case, the initial failure to yield resulted in a violent crash involving three separate vehicles. The force of the collision led to a fatality, multiple injuries, and a series of criminal charges that underscore the legal stakes in traffic incidents involving negligence and license violations.

Florida law imposes strict responsibilities on drivers attempting left turns. According to state statutes, turning drivers must yield the right-of-way to all oncoming traffic that poses a hazard. Failure to do so is not only dangerous but may lead to criminal charges—particularly when it results in death or serious injury.

The charges filed against the at-fault driver reflect a growing concern in Florida over drivers operating vehicles without valid licenses. When combined with actions such as leaving the scene of a deadly crash, the legal consequences become even more severe, often carrying felony-level penalties.

Beyond the legal implications, the human impact is profound. One man lost his life, and others—both adults and children—experienced trauma and injury that may have lasting effects. Accidents like this one also place tremendous emotional and financial strain on families as they struggle to deal with medical expenses, funeral arrangements, and long-term recovery.

Understanding your rights and access to resources is crucial in the aftermath of a serious crash. Victims and their families may benefit from support services, legal counsel, and community resources that provide direction and clarity during a difficult time.
