Stop Sign Violations and Intersection Crashes in Missouri
Failing to obey traffic control devices, such as stop signs, is a leading cause of intersection-related crashes in Missouri. In Monday’s collision at MO-N and Duello Rd, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the Audi entered the intersection without stopping, directly into the path of the Ford F-150.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation statistics, crashes caused by stop sign violations often result in side-impact collisions, which can be particularly dangerous due to limited protection on the sides of vehicles. These incidents frequently lead to vehicle totals and a higher likelihood of injuries compared to other crash types. Defensive driving practices, such as slowing earlier for intersections, double-checking for cross traffic, and maintaining awareness of other drivers, can significantly reduce the risk of these collisions.
