St. Charles County, MO (September 1, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash in St. Charles County sent one woman to the hospital Saturday night after a Ford Mustang rear-ended a Toyota Tacoma at the intersection of Missouri Route B and Pampano Ln.
The collision occurred around 8:15 p.m. when a 2018 Toyota Tacoma, driven by a 59-year-old man from Wentzville, was stopped at a stop sign. A 1996 Ford Mustang, traveling eastbound on Route B, failed to stop in time and struck the rear of the Tacoma. Authorities confirmed that both vehicles were heading in the same direction at the time of the crash.
The impact left a 54-year-old female passenger in the Tacoma with moderate injuries. She was transported to Mercy Hospital St. Louis by the St. Charles Ambulance District for further treatment. No other injuries were reported.
The Mustang, driven by a 21-year-old male from Florissant, sustained moderate damage and came to rest on the roadside. The Tacoma, which was also moderately damaged, was able to be driven from the scene. Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop C investigated the incident with assistance from additional units.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and no citations have been announced. Roadway conditions and driver attentiveness will likely be reviewed as contributing factors.
Our thoughts are with the injured passenger as she begins her recovery.
Rear-End Collisions in Missouri
Rear-end crashes like the one on Route B and Pampano Ln are among the most common types of traffic collisions across Missouri. Often occurring at stop signs, traffic signals, or slowed traffic zones, these incidents frequently result from driver inattention, speeding, or following too closely.
In Saturday night’s crash, the driver of the Mustang failed to brake in time, causing a direct impact to the rear of the Tacoma. While both vehicles were moderately damaged, the physical toll on occupants—especially passengers—can still be significant, as seen in this case. The 54-year-old woman’s injuries, described as moderate, will likely require follow-up care and recovery time.
Even at relatively low speeds, rear-end impacts can cause a variety of injuries including whiplash, spinal strain, or more serious trauma depending on the force of impact and seat position. Victims may not feel symptoms immediately, which is why medical evaluation is essential after any crash.
St. Charles County has seen a rise in traffic activity in recent years, particularly on rural and semi-urban connectors like Route B. While infrastructure continues to improve, safe driving practices remain the most effective prevention strategy for rear-end collisions.
For individuals injured in these types of crashes, understanding their rights and accessing local resources can make the difference between a frustrating process and a supported recovery.
