St. Charles, MO (August 24, 2025) – A multi-vehicle crash on westbound I-70, just east of T.R. Hughes Blvd, resulted in multiple injuries early on Friday afternoon. The incident occurred around 12:54 PM and involved a 1997 Ford F150 and a 2019 Chevy Colorado, both traveling westbound.
Medics and fire crews worked to assist those suffering from injuries after the collision. The driver of the Ford F150, a 33-year-old male from O’Fallon, and his 3-year-old juvenile passenger both sustained minor injuries and were transported by St. Charles County Ambulance District to SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital in Lake Saint Louis. A 33-year-old female occupant of the Chevy Colorado, also from O’Fallon, suffered moderate injuries and was transported to the same facility. All injured individuals were confirmed to be wearing safety devices at the time of the crash.
Authorities stated the crash began when the Ford F150 attempted to avoid another vehicle that was making a sudden lane change. The driver overcorrected, causing the pickup to overturn and strike the Chevy Colorado. The Ford sustained moderate damage and had to be towed by Superior Towing, while the Colorado, with minor damage, was driven from the scene.

Overturn Crashes in Missouri
Rollover accidents, such as the one that occurred on I-70 in St. Charles County, are among the most dangerous types of crashes due to their high likelihood of causing serious injury. These accidents often happen when a driver swerves abruptly, overcorrects, or is forced off balance by other vehicles’ actions. In this case, the need to avoid a sudden lane change led to a loss of control and subsequent rollover.
Missouri highways, particularly major routes like I-70, are frequently the sites of such incidents due to high speeds, dense traffic, and unpredictable driver behavior. According to state traffic safety data, rollover accidents account for a significant percentage of traffic fatalities despite representing a small fraction of total crashes.
Children involved in vehicle accidents require immediate medical attention, even when injuries appear minor. Proper use of child restraints can greatly reduce the risk of serious injury, and in this incident, it likely played a crucial role in protecting the 3-year-old occupant.
All drivers are reminded to remain vigilant and allow ample space between vehicles, especially during lane changes or in heavy traffic. Sudden maneuvers without proper signaling can have catastrophic consequences, as illustrated by this crash.
