St. Charles, MO (January 31, 2026) – Multiple people were injured on January 30 after a police pursuit ended in a violent collision on Interstate 70 in St. Charles County, according to local authorities.
The incident began when a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper attempted to stop a suspect vehicle. Instead of complying, the suspect turned and began traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-70. The fleeing vehicle then crashed into a patrol car and another civilian vehicle during the reckless escape attempt.
Officials reported that two troopers sustained injuries in the aftermath. One trooper was injured inside the patrol vehicle that was struck, while a second trooper suffered a leg injury while chasing the suspect on foot following the crash. A civilian involved in the crash was also hurt, though the full extent of their injuries has not been released.
Emergency responders provided care at the scene, and the suspect was taken into custody around 12:30 p.m., several hours after fleeing the scene.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol and local law enforcement agencies are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the pursuit and collision.
