Saint George Twp, MN (September 23, 2025) – A two-vehicle collision resulted in injuries on Monday afternoon at the intersection of Highway 23 and 75th Ave NE in Benton County. Emergency responders from the Foley Fire Department, Mayo Ambulance, and the Benton County Sheriff’s Office arrived quickly to assist those involved in the crash.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:56 PM when a 2019 Jeep Cherokee traveling northeast on Highway 23 collided with a 2012 Ford F-350 that was headed south on 75th Ave NE. The impact at the intersection caused significant damage to both vehicles and activated airbags in each.
Angela Ann Ristow, 50, of Mora, MN, was driving the Jeep Cherokee. She sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Saint Cloud Hospital for treatment. Authorities confirmed she was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The Ford F-350 was driven by Dana Jean Gohman, 26, of Clear Lake, MN. Gohman and a juvenile male passenger were both uninjured in the crash. Both were also confirmed to have been properly restrained. Alcohol was not a factor for either party, and road conditions were reported to be dry at the time of the collision.
The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the incident, which remains open as of the latest update.
Our thoughts are with Ms. Ristow, and we wish her a full and speedy recovery.
Intersection Accidents in Minnesota
Collisions at rural intersections like Highway 23 and 75th Ave NE in Benton County often occur when vehicles approach at differing speeds and angles, particularly when traffic control devices are limited or visibility is reduced. Even on clear days with dry roads, driver timing errors or misjudgments at cross traffic points can result in serious crashes.
In this case, the crash underscores how quickly a routine drive can turn dangerous, even when all involved are wearing seat belts and no external factors such as alcohol or weather are involved. The aftermath of an accident like this, especially when injuries are sustained, can create challenges ranging from medical recovery to insurance negotiations.
Intersection-related crashes are a major contributor to injury accidents across Minnesota, especially in townships where high-speed highways meet local roads. Ongoing efforts to improve signage, add turn lanes, or install controlled signals are part of state and county strategies to reduce these incidents.
For injured individuals like Angela Ristow, access to local medical care, legal support, and recovery resources is vital in regaining stability after a crash.
