St. Louis, MO (February 1, 2026) – A traffic accident involving injuries was reported Friday afternoon on southbound Interstate 270 at Missouri 21 in St. Louis County. The collision occurred at approximately 3:50 p.m., drawing emergency crews to the scene and contributing to traffic delays in the surrounding area.
Information released by authorities indicates that two vehicles were traveling southbound on I-270 when traffic congestion ahead caused a sudden slowdown. During this period of reduced speeds, the vehicles came into contact in the travel lanes, resulting in moderate damage and injuries to one of the drivers. He was transported to Mercy Hospital South for additional medical treatment and observation. The extent of his injuries has not been further detailed at this time.
The accident involved a 2017 Chevrolet Colorado and a 2025 Kia EV6. One vehicle was able to be driven from the scene after the collision, while the other sustained enough damage to require towing. Crews worked to manage traffic flow and clear the affected lanes, allowing travel along southbound I-270 to gradually return to normal.
