St. Louis, MO – Injury Accident on I-70 Eastbound Near Bermuda

August 28, 2025

St. Louis, MO   (August 28, 2025)   – Emergency responders from St. Louis were dispatched Tuesday evening following a multi-vehicle crash that resulted in multiple injuries along eastbound Interstate 70 just east of Bermuda.

According to reports from authorities, the accident occurred around 5:39 p.m. on August 26, 2024. Medics and fire crews responded swiftly to provide care for victims after a chain-reaction collision involving four eastbound vehicles. The crash began when traffic slowed unexpectedly, causing a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox to rear-end a 2025 Chevrolet Trax. The impact pushed the Trax into a 2016 Toyota Corolla, after which a 2004 Mercedes-Benz C-Class struck the Equinox from behind.

All vehicles sustained minor damage and were able to be driven from the scene. However, two adult female passengers in the Equinox, ages 23 and 33, suffered a variety of injuries. Emergency medical services from Northeast EMS transported both victims to DePaul Hospital in St. Louis for further treatment.

Authorities with the Missouri State Highway Patrol noted that all drivers involved were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Investigators continue to assess the sequence of events and contributing factors. No citations or arrests were reported at the time of this release.

Our thoughts are with those injured, and we wish them a full recovery in the days ahead.

Multi-Vehicle Crashes in Missouri

Chain-reaction accidents, like the one on I-70 in St. Louis, are a serious concern on Missouri highways—especially during peak travel times. The accident highlights how sudden traffic changes can lead to multiple vehicle impacts, even when damage appears minor.

This recent crash involved four vehicles and at least two injured passengers. The eastbound traffic on I-70 was reportedly slowing or stopping at the time, which is a common precursor to rear-end collisions in high-volume corridors. Events like these often raise concerns about safe following distances, driver attentiveness, and visibility during traffic transitions.

Rear-end crashes account for nearly one-third of all traffic accidents in the United States, and Missouri is no exception. According to state crash data, urban interstates like I-70 near St. Louis see a significant share of multi-vehicle collisions due to congestion, merging patterns, and sudden slowdowns. Though the vehicles involved were operable, the human toll—evident in the need for hospitalization—should not be underestimated.

For St. Louis drivers, awareness and preventive measures can make a major difference. Maintaining adequate distance, avoiding distractions, and monitoring traffic flow ahead can reduce the risk of becoming part of a multi-car crash. Additionally, it’s vital for passengers and drivers alike to use seatbelts at all times, as seen in this incident where all parties were properly restrained—likely helping to reduce the severity of injuries.

When injuries do occur, medical care and legal guidance are often needed. Victims may face mounting hospital bills, missed workdays, or lasting pain from what initially appears to be a “minor” crash. This makes early documentation and professional support critical in the aftermath of an accident.
