Highway Exit Lane Collisions in Missouri
Collisions in highway exit lanes, such as the one at I-55 and Lindbergh Blvd, often occur during periods of congested traffic or sudden stops. These lanes are transitional zones where high-speed travel quickly shifts to slowed or stopped traffic, making rear-end collisions a common outcome when drivers are distracted or misjudge braking distances.
In Missouri, such accidents frequently happen in metropolitan areas like St. Louis, where daily traffic volume creates abrupt stop-and-go conditions. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) urges drivers to remain attentive and maintain ample spacing, particularly when approaching exits, construction areas, or merge points.
Even low-speed crashes in exit lanes can lead to injuries and vehicle damage. Injured individuals should prioritize medical evaluation and consider consulting with professionals regarding their recovery and legal rights, especially in cases involving driver negligence.
