Stockton, CA (September 2, 2025) – A woman was killed early on Saturday morning in a hit-and-run collision that involved multiple vehicles at a central Stockton intersection, according to the Stockton Police Department.
The deadly crash occurred at approximately 4:42 a.m. on August 30 at the intersection of South Stanislaus St and East Jackson St. Investigators say the collision began when one vehicle broadsided another, causing a chain-reaction impact that also damaged several parked cars in the area.
A 68-year-old woman, who was a passenger in one of the vehicles involved, sustained critical injuries in the crash. Emergency medical personnel rushed her to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Authorities have not yet released her identity, pending family notification.

The Stockton Police Department is actively investigating the case and asking anyone with information or surveillance footage from the area to come forward.
Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones of the woman who tragically lost her life.
Fatal Hit-and-Run Crashes in California
The heartbreaking loss of life in Saturday’s hit-and-run crash in Stockton underscores the devastating impact of driver irresponsibility and fleeing the scene after causing harm. Hit-and-run incidents are among the most egregious violations of California traffic law, particularly when they result in a fatality.
This case is especially disturbing because the suspects not only caused a multi-vehicle collision but also abandoned a crash scene where someone was critically injured. Under California law, fleeing a scene after an injury or fatal crash is a felony offense, and police typically launch full-scale investigations to identify and apprehend those responsible.
Broadside collisions, also known as T-bone crashes, are particularly dangerous because of the limited protection available on the side of most passenger vehicles. The force of impact in these collisions often causes traumatic injuries to passengers, especially when no airbags or side barriers are in place. In this case, the victim was an older adult, which may have further increased her vulnerability to serious injuries.
Multi-vehicle crashes that damage parked cars also point to high speed, recklessness, or intoxication as potential contributing factors, though authorities have not yet confirmed the cause in this case. Investigators will likely rely on forensic analysis, traffic camera footage, and community tips to locate and prosecute the suspects involved.
For families dealing with the sudden loss of a loved one in such a violent and senseless way, the path forward can be overwhelming. In addition to grieving, families may need support with funeral costs, legal matters, and navigating victims’ rights in a criminal investigation.
