Stone, MO – Two Drivers Injured in Crash on Hwy 13 at Will Rd

September 9, 2025

Stone, MO (September 9, 2025) – Medics and fire crews worked to assist those suffering from injuries after a two-vehicle crash occurred Monday afternoon in Stone County. The accident was reported around 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of Hwy 13 and Will Rd, about one mile north of Lampe.

According to initial reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2014 Toyota Prius, driven by a 77-year-old man from Lampe, was traveling eastbound when it failed to yield at the intersection. The Prius collided with a 2025 GMC Sierra driven by an 84-year-old man from Ridgedale, who was traveling south on Hwy 13. Both vehicles sustained significant damage, with the Prius declared a total loss.

Emergency responders from Stone County quickly arrived at the scene. Both drivers sustained injuries in the crash and were transported by ambulance to Cox South in Springfield for further treatment. Authorities confirmed that both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision, which likely helped reduce the severity of their injuries.

The Toyota was towed from the scene by Natural State Towing, while the GMC was removed by Schrader’s Towing. Crews worked to clear the roadway and restore traffic flow following the collision. The cause of the crash remains under investigation at this time.

Our thoughts are with the two men injured in this crash, and we hope for their full recovery.

Intersection Accidents in Missouri

Intersections in Missouri, particularly in rural areas like Stone County, often present heightened risks for drivers. Failure-to-yield crashes are among the most common causes of serious collisions at intersections. In this Lampe accident, the eastbound Prius entered the path of the southbound GMC Sierra, resulting in a damaging impact that left both drivers injured.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, thousands of intersection-related crashes occur every year across the state, many of which involve older drivers. With an aging population, Missouri continues to face challenges in addressing driver safety for seniors, who may experience slower reaction times or reduced visibility in complex traffic situations.

Local officials emphasize the importance of defensive driving when approaching intersections, especially along rural highways like Hwy 13. These routes often involve higher speeds and limited sight distance, which can increase the risk of crashes when drivers fail to yield or misjudge oncoming traffic.

Accidents like the one in Lampe also highlight the value of seatbelt use, which remains one of the most effective measures for reducing injury severity. Both drivers involved
