Sturbridge, MA (January 16, 2026) – A devastating crash in Sturbridge on Thursday afternoon left two individuals seriously injured, one of whom required extraction from their vehicle and emergency transport to a medical facility.
The incident occurred around 2:45 p.m. in the 500 block of Main St, near Turner Field. Sturbridge Fire Department crews rushed to the scene after receiving reports that a person was trapped inside a vehicle following the collision.
Firefighters used specialized rescue tools to free the individual, who was then rushed to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Meanwhile, first responders began life-saving efforts on a second injured person at the scene. Due to the severity of that individual’s condition, a medical helicopter was called in and later transported them to UMass Medical Center.
Authorities have not yet released details about the identities or current medical status of either party. The Sturbridge Police Department is actively investigating the cause of the crash.
