Syracuse, NY (January 16, 2026) – Emergency crews responded on Thursday to a traffic collision with injuries on the southbound lanes of I-81 near the E Fayette St exit in Syracuse’s Near Eastside neighborhood.
The crash occurred during active traffic hours and involved at least one vehicle, resulting in injuries that required on-scene medical assistance. Paramedics provided care to the injured and transported at least one individual to a local hospital for further evaluation. The full extent of injuries has not yet been disclosed.
Due to the location of the incident along a key stretch of I-81, traffic was disrupted while responders worked to secure the area and clear damaged vehicles. Motorists were advised to expect delays while emergency operations were underway.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the collision. No additional information has been released regarding contributing factors or whether other vehicles were involved.
