Taney County, MO (June 15, 2025) – A multi-vehicle crash on southbound US-65 left one person injured Friday evening just north of Branson. The collision occurred around 5:05 p.m., approximately four miles outside the city, and involved three vehicles traveling in the same direction.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash began when a 2006 Ford F-150 and a 2009 Honda Odyssey both slowed nearly to a stop. A 2005 Ford Explorer, driven by a 22-year-old woman from Reeds Spring, was unable to stop in time and struck the rear of the Honda. The impact caused the Honda to crash into the back of the F-150.
An occupant of the Honda Odyssey, a 61-year-old woman from Branson, sustained injuries in the crash. She was transported by EMS to Cox South Hospital for further evaluation. All involved parties were reportedly wearing seat belts, and no additional injuries were noted.
Despite the chain-reaction nature of the crash, all three vehicles were able to be driven from the scene, though the Honda Odyssey sustained moderate damage. The F-150 and Explorer had only minor damage. No citations were issued at the time of the report, and the investigation remains ongoing.
We extend our well wishes to the injured woman and hope for her full recovery.
Rear-End Chain Reaction Crashes on Missouri Highways
Chain-reaction crashes like the one that occurred on US-65 north of Branson often happen during traffic slowdowns and are typically initiated by one vehicle’s failure to stop in time. These collisions can quickly involve multiple vehicles and cause injuries—even when speeds are relatively low.
In this incident, the third vehicle failed to slow for stopped traffic ahead, leading to a domino effect involving two other vehicles. The injured party—a 61-year-old passenger in the middle vehicle—was caught between the force of both impacts. This is a common injury pattern in rear-end crashes where occupants are most vulnerable to whiplash, back injuries, and head trauma.
US-65 near Branson serves as a busy route connecting tourist destinations, residential areas, and commercial traffic, particularly during afternoon and weekend hours. Congested roadways and unexpected slowdowns increase the risk of these types of crashes, especially when driver attention lapses.
While the physical injuries in this case were minor, even seemingly small collisions can lead to delayed medical symptoms, vehicle loss, and lengthy insurance claims processes. Prompt evaluation and accurate reporting are essential to safeguarding one’s health and rights.
