Taylor County, FL (May 8, 2025) – A violent multi-vehicle collision involving two trucks and two passenger vehicles left four people injured Wednesday afternoon on U.S. Highway 27 near James Bethea Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
The crash occurred around 2:00 p.m. and was described by authorities as “very serious.” A 52-year-old Perry man was driving a gas truck westbound when he reportedly side-swiped an oncoming logging truck operated by a 67-year-old Greenville man. The initial impact caused the gas truck to roll over, coming to rest on its side in the middle of the highway.
The logging truck, which continued forward after the initial collision, subsequently side-swiped a sedan and a pickup truck before overturning and blocking a portion of the highway. Both drivers of the passenger vehicles were able to steer off the north side of the road. FHP reported that they sustained minor injuries.
However, the drivers of the gas and logging trucks were seriously injured and required emergency medical evacuation by helicopter to a nearby trauma center. The crash left logs scattered across the roadway and led to significant traffic disruptions as troopers redirected vehicles around the scene and cleanup crews worked to restore access.
