Texas Co, MO – Three-Vehicle Collision on Hwy AW Near Evening Shade Leaves Three Injured

September 7, 2025

Texas County, MO (September 7, 2025) – A three-vehicle crash occurred late on Friday morning on Hwy AW, about one mile south of Evening Shade, resulting in multiple injuries and significant vehicle damage. The collision was investigated by Troop G of the Missouri State Highway Patrol and was reported at approximately 11:30 a.m.

According to the crash report, the incident began when a 2014 Ford Fusion attempted to overtake a northbound 2003 Peterbilt truck. While doing so, the Fusion collided with a 2018 Ford F-150 that was turning onto the roadway. The Fusion then struck the Peterbilt before traveling off the left side of the road, where it hit a mailbox bank and came to rest.

The 36-year-old male driver of the Ford Fusion, from Calico Rock, Arkansas, sustained minor injuries and was transported by Texas County EMS to Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, MO. The 29-year-old female driver of the Ford F-150, from Plato, and her 4-year-old male passenger both suffered minor injuries and were transported by private vehicle to General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital in Fort Leonard Wood. The driver of the Peterbilt was not injured.

Both the Ford Fusion and Ford F-150 sustained total damage and were towed from the scene by Arrington Automotive. The Peterbilt truck sustained minor damage and was driven away from the crash site.

Our thoughts go out to the victims as we hope for their recovery.

Multi-Vehicle Crashes in Rural Missouri

Highways in rural areas like Hwy AW near Evening Shade often present higher crash risks due to high-speed passing maneuvers, limited visibility, and fewer controlled intersections. Attempting to overtake slower-moving vehicles on rural two-lane roads can quickly result in dangerous situations, particularly when other vehicles are turning or entering the roadway.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, multi-vehicle crashes involving overtaking maneuvers account for a significant portion of rural accidents each year. Many of these crashes result in serious injuries or fatalities when higher speeds are involved.

For victims, the aftermath of such collisions may include medical treatment, hospital stays, and navigating complex insurance claims. Documentation and professional guidance are vital in ensuring a fair recovery process.

Drivers are reminded to exercise caution when overtaking on rural highways and to always ensure the roadway is clear before attempting to pass.
