Tracy, CA (September 23, 2025) – A suspected DUI collision early Sunday morning claimed the life of a 66-year-old man from Tracy. The fatal crash occurred at approximately 4:45 a.m. on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 580, just west of the Grant Line Rd exit.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 21-year-old Stockton man was driving a Honda Accord when he rear-ended a black Tesla Model Y. The Tesla, driven by the Tracy resident, sustained major damage in the impact.
Emergency responders arrived on scene and pronounced the Tesla driver dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released pending family notification.
The driver of the Honda was transported to Valley Care Medical Center in Pleasanton with moderate injuries. Following the crash, CHP officers arrested the 21-year-old on suspicion of driving under the influence.
The collision remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
