Washington, IL (January 17, 2026) – A tragic pedestrian-involved crash took place Friday evening on Route 8 near the intersection of South Summit Dr in Washington, resulting in one fatality. According to the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident occurred around 6:00 p.m., prompting a swift response from East Peoria police and fire personnel. First responders arrived to find a pedestrian who had been struck near the roadside. Despite emergency efforts, the individual could not be revived. Their identity has not yet been released, pending notification of family.
Officials will examine the vehicle, roadway conditions, and any contributing factors to determine the sequence of events that led to the fatal collision.
