Waukesha, WI (August 12, 2025) – Emergency crews in Waukesha responded Tuesday afternoon to two separate injury collisions in quick succession near White Rock Ave and N Hartwell Ave.

According to initial dispatch reports, the first incident occurred at approximately 2:17 p.m. and involved a motor vehicle striking a bicyclist. Just minutes later, at 2:21 p.m., responders were alerted to a second collision in the same vicinity—this time involving a vehicle and a scooter.

Truck 5 and additional medical units were dispatched to both scenes. At least two individuals, one from each crash, sustained injuries. Paramedics provided on-site care and arranged for hospital transport where necessary. The extent of the injuries and the identities of those involved have not yet been released.

Traffic in the area was temporarily impacted as responders secured both accident scenes and began their investigations.

We extend our best wishes to both injured individuals and hope for their full recoveries.

Vulnerable Road User Collisions in Waukesha

Collisions involving bicycles and scooters—like those reported near White Rock Ave and N Hartwell Ave—highlight the risks faced by vulnerable road users in urban traffic environments. Without the protective structure of a vehicle, cyclists and scooter riders are more susceptible to serious injuries in even low-speed impacts.

Injury types in these crashes often include broken bones, concussions, and soft tissue damage. The recovery process can be lengthy, requiring medical treatment, rehabilitation, and sometimes long-term lifestyle adjustments.

White Rock Ave and N Hartwell Ave are active traffic corridors in Waukesha, with a mix of vehicle, pedestrian, and recreational traffic. This combination, especially during busy afternoon hours, can increase the likelihood of collisions if drivers are distracted or fail to yield.
