Waukesha, WI – Fatal T-Bone Crash Involving Semi at S East Ave & Lawnsdale Rd

June 10, 2025

Waukesha, WI (June 10, 2025) – A tragic three-vehicle collision involving a semi-truck resulted in two fatalities Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of S East Ave and Lawnsdale Rd in Waukesha. The crash, first reported around 3:16 p.m., led to a large emergency response as multiple victims were trapped inside the wreckage.

According to reports, the violent T-bone collision left vehicles severely damaged, with one catching fire and smoke rising from the scene. Emergency responders from Waukesha Fire and Rescue arrived promptly and began efforts to assist those trapped. Medics and fire crews worked to assist those suffering from injuries after the collision, extricating one patient at approximately 3:31 p.m., followed by a second extrication shortly after 3:40 p.m.

At least one injured individual was transported to a local hospital for further treatment. In addition to medical operations, environmental crews from the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) were called to the scene to address an oil spill resulting from the crash, while the Wisconsin State Patrol joined the investigation efforts.

Traffic in the area was heavily impacted, with both eastbound and westbound lanes temporarily closed as crews worked to assist victims, contain hazards, and investigate the crash. The Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department later confirmed that two individuals tragically lost their lives in this accident. The southbound lanes remained closed until the evening, with full reopening reported just before 9:00 p.m.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by local authorities. Updates will be provided as further details become available.

Our deepest condolences go out to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in this devastating accident.

Understanding the Risks of T-Bone Collisions Involving Semis in Wisconsin

T-bone crashes, particularly those involving large commercial vehicles like semi-trucks, are among the most dangerous types of collisions on Wisconsin’s roadways. These accidents often lead to catastrophic outcomes, especially when passenger vehicles are struck broadside by a vehicle of much greater size and weight.

Major intersections such as S East Ave and Lawnsdale Rd are frequent sites for such accidents, given the mix of local and commercial traffic converging at high speeds. The addition of semi-trucks to busy intersections increases the risk of severe injuries or fatalities, particularly when visibility or roadway conditions are challenging.

Wisconsin sees numerous crashes each year involving semi-trucks, and many of these incidents are preventable with proper caution, adherence to traffic signals, and defensive driving by all motorists. In the aftermath of fatal collisions, families are often left to navigate not only the emotional devastation but also complex legal and financial burdens related to funeral expenses, lost wages, and potential wrongful death claims.

As investigations into this Waukesha crash continue, drivers across the state are urged to exercise extra caution when approaching intersections, especially when large vehicles are present in the vicinity. For more information or to receive help after an accident, contact Local Accident Reports.
