Head-On Collision Dangers on Delaware’s Secondary Roads
Head-on crashes, particularly on undivided roadways like Upper King Rd, often result in severe outcomes due to the force of impact. These types of collisions are commonly linked to lane departures, distraction, impaired driving, or speed.
According to the Delaware Office of Highway Safety, head-on crashes account for a high percentage of serious injuries and fatalities statewide. In rural Kent County, narrow roads and limited lighting further increase the risk.
Drivers are urged to remain focused, avoid risky passing maneuvers, and reduce speed—especially at night when visibility is limited. Proactive defensive driving plays a critical role in preventing these devastating incidents.
