Wright Co, MO (September 21, 2025) – A Friday afternoon crash in Wright County left a motorcyclist injured following a collision at the intersection of Route E and US 60. The accident occurred around 12:55 p.m. and involved a Ford pickup truck and a Harley Davidson motorcycle.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2013 Ford F-150 driven by a 77-year-old Mountain Grove man was attempting to turn onto Route E from US 60. At the same time, a 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by a 34-year-old Norwood man, was traveling northbound on Route E. The pickup failed to yield and struck the motorcycle on its side.
The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, sustained injuries in the crash. He was transported by private vehicle to Mountain Grove Mercy Clinic for medical evaluation. The motorcycle sustained extensive damage and was removed by private parties, while the pickup truck only had minor damage and was driven from the scene.
Troopers, along with local law enforcement, worked to clear the roadway and investigate the collision.
Our thoughts are with the injured rider, and we wish him a smooth and full recovery.
Motorcycle Accidents in Missouri
Crashes involving motorcycles, such as the one reported at Route E and US 60 in Norwood, highlight the increased risks riders face on Missouri roads. Motorcycles lack the protection of larger vehicles, and when collisions occur—particularly when another driver fails to yield—the motorcyclist is far more likely to suffer injuries. In this case, the rider escaped with minor injuries, but many motorcycle crashes in the state result in far more serious outcomes.
Intersections are among the most common sites for motorcycle accidents, often due to drivers failing to notice or yield to smaller vehicles. According to statewide data, left turns and crossing movements contribute heavily to these types of collisions. Protective gear, including helmets, can significantly reduce injury severity, yet not all riders consistently wear them, increasing their vulnerability during accidents.
For Wright County residents, this crash underscores the importance of vigilance at intersections. Drivers should take extra time to scan for motorcycles, while riders are encouraged to use visible gear and practice defensive driving to reduce risks.
