Our thoughts are with everyone hurt as they recover from their injuries.
What Factors Can Contribute to Crashes at Intersections?
Intersections can become dangerous when drivers fail to yield, misjudge another vehicle’s speed, or enter a crossing without enough time to proceed safely. Drivers should watch for traffic approaching from multiple directions and follow posted signs and signals.
Right-of-way rules help determine which vehicle should proceed first. A driver who has the right of way should remain alert for vehicles that may not yield as required. Turning vehicles must also watch for oncoming traffic and pedestrians before moving through a crossing.
Good visibility, moderate speeds, and careful attention can reduce the risk of a serious accident. Drivers should avoid distractions and give themselves enough time to check for other vehicles before entering an intersection.
