What Factors Are Commonly Examined After a Head-On Collision?
Head-on crashes are often among the most serious roadway accidents because both vehicles may be traveling at full speed before contact occurs. Investigators usually examine roadway markings, weather conditions, visibility, and whether either driver crossed into oncoming traffic. Tire marks and vehicle positioning can also help explain how the sequence unfolded.
In some cases, fatigue, distraction, or limited visibility during early morning hours may become part of the review process. Vehicle damage patterns are also commonly analyzed to determine angles of contact and estimated travel paths. Medical findings and witness accounts may later provide additional context as more information becomes available. Head-on impacts frequently result in severe injuries due to the combined force between vehicles traveling in opposite directions.
