Coral Gables, FL (September 9, 2026) – A motorcyclist died on Monday, September 7, after a sedan turned in front of him near Bird and Red roads, according to the initial report.

The crash happened shortly before 4 p.m. on Southwest 40th Street, also known as Bird Road. A Hyundai Sonata was traveling westbound before turning onto 57th Avenue, also known as Red Road.

The turn placed the sedan in the motorcycle’s path. The biker struck the Hyundai and fell from his Kawasaki motorcycle.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity had not been publicly released, and it was not immediately known whether the Hyundai driver would receive a citation or face charges. The investigation into the fatal collision remains ongoing.

Our deepest condolences go to the motorcyclist’s family and loved ones.

What Factors Can Increase Motorcycle Crash Risks?

Motorcycles offer less protection than passenger vehicles, making riders more vulnerable when a traffic mistake occurs. Limited visibility can also make it harder for drivers to notice a motorcycle before changing direction or entering its path.

Intersections and turning movements require particular attention from everyone using the road. Drivers should check carefully for motorcycles before making turns, changing lanes, or crossing traffic. Motorcyclists can improve their visibility by using headlights, wearing reflective gear, and maintaining a safe following distance.

Road conditions can also affect motorcycle control. Wet pavement, loose gravel, poor lighting, and uneven surfaces may increase the difficulty of maintaining stability. Defensive riding and careful observation can help reduce the likelihood of serious motorcycle crashes.
