Lynchburg, VA (May 31, 2026) – A man died Sunday evening, May 31, following a wreck involving a bicyclist and an SUV near the intersection of Monroe Street and 10th Street. The bicyclist was struck at around 5:35 p.m. and later died from his injuries at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Emergency units arrived at the intersection after the two-vehicle wreck was reported. The bicyclist had been taken to the hospital by emergency personnel after the impact, but he did not survive.
The driver of the SUV stayed at the location and cooperated with the police during the initial inquiry. No further identities were released following the bicycle and SUV wreck. The investigation remains ongoing as officials work to determine the circumstances that led to the collision.
