Loran Township, IL (September 9, 2026) – A 22-year-old driver died after a vehicle struck multiple cattle in rural Stephenson County. The crash happened around 2:20 a.m. on Monday, September 7, near the intersection of W. Loran Rd and S. Lott Rd.
Police found a severely damaged Ford sedan in a ditch on the north side of Loran Rd. The vehicle had three men inside, including a 22-year-old driver, a 25-year-old front passenger, and a 25-year-old rear passenger.
The front passenger was flown to an area hospital, while the rear passenger was taken to a hospital by ambulance. The driver died while being taken to a hospital.
Investigators determined the vehicle was traveling east on Loran Rd when it struck multiple cattle in the road before leaving the roadway. Fifteen cattle were found on the road, with two dying from the accident and two others being euthanized because of severe injuries.
The circumstances surrounding the wreck remain under investigation, with additional details expected as the inquiry continues.
