Kinsman, IL (August 19, 2026) – A 30-year-old Huntley woman died on Wednesday morning, August 19, after her car was struck at the intersection of Gardner Rd and Johnny Run Rd in rural Grundy County.

Rosemary Bolding was driving north on Johnny Run Rd around 8:45 a.m. when she failed to stop at the stop sign at Gardner Rd. An eastbound vehicle then struck her car in the intersection, sending it into a front yard northeast of the crossing.

The car continued into the corner of a nearby house, causing visible damage. Video from the scene showed Bolding’s blue car against the structure. Bolding was pronounced dead at the site.

The accident occurred in an unincorporated agricultural area near Kinsman, lined with wind farms. No information was provided about injuries to anyone in the eastbound vehicle.

The investigation into the collision remains ongoing.

Our deepest sympathies go to Bolding’s family and loved ones following this tragic loss.

How Can Drivers Reduce the Risk of Crashes at Stop-Sign Intersections?

Stop-sign intersections require drivers to slow down and check for traffic before entering the crossing. A full stop gives motorists time to look in both directions and identify approaching vehicles that may have the right of way.

Drivers should remain alert even after stopping because other motorists may be traveling faster than expected. At intersections with limited visibility, moving forward carefully after stopping can provide a better view of cross traffic.

Keeping distractions such as phones out of reach can also help drivers notice signs, approaching vehicles, pedestrians, and changing traffic conditions. Extra caution is warranted on rural roads, where long stretches with no traffic can create a false sense of security.

When a vehicle enters an intersection, the driver should confirm that the path is clear before proceeding. Following posted signs and yielding when required can reduce the likelihood of serious roadway collisions.
