What Happens After a Head-On Collision?
Head-on crashes can cause severe vehicle damage because the force of two vehicles traveling toward each other combines at the point of contact. The seriousness of resulting injuries can vary based on speed, vehicle size, restraint use, and where the vehicles meet.
Investigators may review vehicle positions, photographs, roadway markings, witness accounts, and available video footage. Vehicle inspections can also help identify mechanical problems or other factors that may have contributed to a crash.
Medical records can provide information about the nature and extent of injuries. Records from treatment may also help document the care a person receives after a serious roadway collision.
