Melbourne, FL (August 11, 2026) – Walter Davis McCoy, 36, of Melbourne, died Monday after a Jeep Cherokee struck him while he was riding an electric scooter early Sunday morning, August 9. The accident happened near Croton Rd and Mc Kinley Ave at about 1:46 a.m.
The driver of the Jeep tried to swerve to avoid the scooter but was unable to prevent the collision. McCoy was later pronounced dead, according to the available report.
The Melbourne Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement Unit is seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has details that could assist with the investigation. Tips can be provided to Investigator Officer Whitright at 321-616-6116.
