What Happens After a Head-On Collision?

Head-on collisions can cause serious harm because the front portions of two vehicles meet with significant force. The severity of injuries can depend on vehicle size, speed, seat belt use, and the position of each person inside the vehicle.

Medical evaluations may identify injuries that are not immediately obvious. Doctors may check for head trauma, broken bones, internal injuries, and other conditions following a major collision.

Records from the hospital can document the treatment provided and the injuries diagnosed. Vehicle damage, photographs, and other available records may also provide information about what occurred. Families may need time to gather these records when the full effects of a serious accident become clearer.
