Pleasant Plains Township, MI (August 5, 2026) – One person lost their life, and four others were hurt following a two-vehicle rollover on northbound M-37 in Pleasant Plains Township on Tuesday, August 4.
According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the wreck happened at about 4:17 p.m. just south of 76th Street. A northbound vehicle had stopped in the travel lane while preparing to turn left into a gas station. Another northbound vehicle attempted to pass on the right and struck the rear corner of the turning vehicle.
After the contact, the passing vehicle lost control and rolled over several times. The driver was pronounced dead at the roadside. Two passengers were taken to Corewell Hospital in Reed City by ambulance, while a third passenger was airlifted to a hospital in Grand Rapids for further treatment.
The driver of the turning vehicle received minor injuries. Investigators said alcohol is not believed to have been a factor.
The cause remains under review as investigators continue gathering evidence.
