Benton Township, MI (September 7, 2026) – A wrong-way driver traveling south in the northbound lanes of US-31 struck a pickup truck head-on. The collision happened near Napier Ave at about 11:30 a.m. on Friday, September 4.
The SUV driver, a 42-year-old Muskegon woman, died at the site of the collision. The pickup driver, a 34-year-old Hartland man, was taken to Corewell Health Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time. The police said it remains unclear whether drugs or alcohol contributed to the wreck. Additional details about the accident had not been released as of this report. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision remains ongoing.
