San Diego, CA (June 24, 2026) – One person was hurt in a three-vehicle crash on June 23, along Interstate 805 near the 43rd Street on-ramp in San Diego.

According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch records, the collision was reported around 1:14 a.m. on the southbound side of I-805 at the 43rd Street entrance ramp. A caller reported hearing the crash and later observed a Ford four-door sedan stopped along the right shoulder. Records indicate the vehicle may have struck a barrier or other vehicles multiple times before coming to rest.

Emergency units arriving at the roadway found three vehicles involved. Debris was scattered across several lanes, and traffic was temporarily stopped while crews worked to clear the roadway. One person remained inside a vehicle with a head laceration and was attempting to get out when help arrived.

The injured person was later taken to a local hospital for treatment. The identities of those involved have not yet been released. The CHP is continuing to gather information to determine the factors that led to the collision.

We hope the person receiving treatment makes a full and speedy recovery.

Why Head Injuries Are Closely Monitored After Traffic Collisions

Head injuries are among the most carefully evaluated injuries after roadway crashes. Even when a cut or laceration appears minor, medical professionals often monitor patients for signs of concussion, internal bleeding, dizziness, memory problems, or other symptoms that may develop over time.

Doctors may perform physical examinations, imaging tests, or neurological assessments to better understand the extent of a head injury. Some symptoms do not appear immediately, which is why follow-up care can be recommended even after a person leaves the hospital.

The severity of a head injury can vary widely depending on factors such as vehicle speed, seat belt use, and the way a person’s head moved during the collision. Early evaluation and ongoing observation can help identify complications and support a safer recovery process.

1Seek treatment promptly after being injured in an accident. Your first priority should always be your health. Many providers offer treatment on a lien basis, meaning you can get the care you need now and pay later when your claim is resolved.
2Before speaking with an insurance company, make sure you have the facts. An official police report is the most reliable record of what happened and can help establish liability An experienced attorney can assist you in obtaining this report and using it to protect your interests.
3Consider having your case reviewed by a qualified attorney who can guide you through the next steps. They will safeguard your rights and pursue the compensation you deserve.
