York County, SC (August 11, 2026) – A Rock Hill man died, and another person was hurt early on Sunday morning, August 9, in a rollover collision on an Interstate 77 exit ramp. James Conner, 20, was pronounced dead at the scene around 3 a.m.
Conner was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado southbound at Exit 82 when it struck a guardrail and overturned, according to police and the York County Coroner.
A 20-year-old passenger in the truck, who has not been identified, was taken to Piedmont Medical Center for treatment. That person’s condition was not known.
This is the second fatality at Exit 82 this year. The wreck remains under investigation.

When a location sees more than one fatality in a short period, transportation officials sometimes review the site for potential design changes, such as adjusted signage, rumble strips, or a modified curve radius. These reviews can take time, since they typically involve studying prior incident data, traffic volume, and the physical layout of the ramp itself.
