Apple Valley, CA (August 9, 2026) – A 28-year-old Apple Valley man was killed, and three others were injured on Bear Valley Road. The collision occurred around 7:46 p.m. on Friday, August 7, between Locust Ln and Deep Creek Rd. A 36-year-old Barstow man was driving a 2007 Land Rover Range Rover westbound while the 28-year-old man drove a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound.
The Range Rover driver entered the eastbound lanes and struck the Silverado head-on, according to the initial report. The Silverado driver, identified as Juan P. Garcia, was killed at the scene. The other driver stayed at the site and cooperated before being taken to a local hospital. Two teen passengers in the Silverado were also taken to a hospital and were listed in stable condition.
The Range Rover had extensive front-end damage and remained in the roadway. The Silverado left the road and stopped on its wheels in the desert south of Bear Valley Road. The road was closed between Deep Creek Rd and Locust Ln while evidence was processed and witnesses were interviewed.
It has not been determined whether intoxication played a role, but the investigation into the fatal accident continues as additional details are reviewed.
