Bennington, NE (July 15, 2026) – An 11-year-old child sustained critical injuries after a pickup truck struck a scooter on Tuesday afternoon, July 14, near the intersection of 179th Street and Island Circle in Bennington.
The collision was reported at approximately 4:30 p.m. According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, three children were traveling northbound on 179th Street when one entered the intersection and was struck by a westbound pickup truck. Nearby residents immediately provided lifesaving aid until emergency units arrived.
The 11-year-old was taken to Children’s Nebraska in extremely critical condition. No additional information about the other children or the pickup truck driver has been released. Investigators continue working to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision.
