Centreville, VA (September 5, 2026) – An early morning collision on the Interstate 66 ramp to Route 50 near Exit 53 in Fairfax County left two people injured on Thursday, September 3, according to the police report.
The collision happened around 5:30 a.m. A preliminary investigation found that a Hyundai traveling in the left lane drifted and struck an SUV. The Hyundai then bounced off the SUV, hit a guardrail, and overturned onto its roof. Both drivers were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Hyundai driver was charged with reckless driving. Troopers are also investigating whether fatigue contributed to the crash. All eastbound lanes of Interstate 66 were closed on Thursday morning following the collision. Traffic delays extended for about five miles.
