Storefront Crashes Put Workers and Customers at Risk
Storefront crashes can be dangerous because people inside a business may have little warning before a vehicle enters the building. Workers, customers, and bystanders might be close to windows, counters, or entrance areas when the vehicle comes through.
These crashes usually cause more than vehicle damage. Broken glass, shelving, counters, and falling materials may create added hazards inside the business.
When a car backs into a storefront, investigators may review driver actions, parking layout, pedal use, and the distance between parking spaces and the building. Medical checks may also be needed for people inside, even when they appear alert at first. Later reports may clarify whether barriers, curb placement, or storefront design affected how far the vehicle traveled.
