Hemet, CA (June 7, 2026) – Two people, including a 10-year-old boy, were killed following a crash involving a CAL FIRE truck in the Hemet Valley on Friday, June 5.
According to CHP reports, the fire engine was traveling to a vegetation fire in the San Bernardino National Forest east of Highway 74 when it collided with another vehicle. One person was pronounced dead at the roadway, while the child and another person were hospitalized. The boy later died from his injuries.
Three emergency personnel riding in the fire truck were also hospitalized. Their injuries, along with those of the surviving occupant from the other vehicle, ranged from minor to major, according to the California Highway Patrol. Further details about what led to the collision were not immediately available. The people involved had not been publicly identified as of this report. Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
