Menifee, CA (September 14, 2026) – Two people were extricated from a vehicle after a two-vehicle crash Saturday, September 12, on Scott Road west of Briggs Road in Menifee.
The crash was reported around 3:10 p.m., according to the Riverside County Fire Department. Firefighters reported that both vehicles sustained major damage and that two occupants were trapped inside one of the vehicles. Crews subsequently removed the two occupants and paramedics assessed them at the scene.
The two extricated occupants declined further medical treatment. A third person involved in the crash was also evaluated by paramedics and declined further treatment. The cause of the collision was not immediately known.

Why Can Vehicle Extrication Be Necessary After a Crash?
Vehicle extrication may be necessary when occupants cannot safely leave a damaged vehicle on their own. A severe impact can deform doors, crush portions of the passenger compartment, or leave a vehicle in a position that makes normal exits difficult to use. Specialized rescue equipment can help create enough space for occupants to be removed safely.
The need for extrication does not by itself indicate how seriously a person was injured. Some occupants may require assistance because the vehicle is damaged or unstable, while others may be evaluated and released without additional treatment. Medical personnel can assess people after they are removed and determine whether further care is needed.
Large amounts of vehicle damage can also create additional hazards around a crash scene. Broken glass, leaking fluids, damaged electrical systems, and unstable vehicles may pose risks to occupants and responders. Giving emergency crews adequate space allows them to work safely while damaged vehicles are assessed and removed.
