Osceola County, FL (June 9, 2026) – A 17-year-old girl and a 20-year-old man sustained serious injuries on Monday night after a pursuit involving gunfire ended in a violent crash on US-192 near the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.
According to investigators, the incident began shortly after 11 p.m. when the teen called 911 and reported that her ex-boyfriend was chasing the vehicle she was riding in and firing shots at it. The teen was a passenger in a white 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer driven by a 20-year-old Kissimmee man.
Investigators said the pursuit started on Partin Settlement Rd, where 21-year-old Christian Andres Rivera of St. Cloud allegedly fired multiple rounds into the passenger side of the Mitsubishi while driving a 2006 BMW 330i. As the victims attempted to reach the sheriff’s office for safety, Rivera allegedly continued following them onto US-192.
Authorities said the BMW then struck the rear of the Mitsubishi, causing it to lose control and cross into eastbound lanes, where it collided with a marked pickup truck driven by a deputy responding to the emergency call. The teen and the driver were trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated before being taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Investigators confirmed the teen suffered a gunshot wound in addition to injuries from the collision.
The deputy was treated for a slight concussion and later released. Rivera allegedly fled after the crash but was later arrested at a relative’s home in St. Cloud. He was booked into jail on two counts of attempted murder and faces several additional charges. Still, the case remains under active investigation as detectives continue gathering evidence.
We are thinking of those injured and wish them strength during their recovery.
What Happens When a Crash Results From a Vehicle Pursuit?
When a roadway collision occurs during a pursuit, investigators typically review a combination of physical evidence, witness statements, vehicle damage, and communications records. These cases usually involve a detailed timeline to determine how the sequence of actions unfolded and what factors contributed to the outcome.
Vehicle data systems can provide information about speed, braking, steering inputs, and other driving actions before contact occurred. Investigators may also examine surveillance footage, dash camera recordings, and emergency call records to better understand the movements of those involved.
When gunfire is reported before a crash, forensic specialists frequently analyze bullet trajectories, shell casings, and damage to vehicles. Medical findings may also help document injuries associated with both the roadway collision and any separate acts of violence. The collection and review of this information can help establish a comprehensive account of what took place and support any subsequent criminal proceedings.
