Sterling Heights, MI (June 4, 2026) – A 29-year-old Washington Township man was killed on Thursday morning in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of 18 Mile Rd and Mound Rd in Sterling Heights.
Police said the collision happened around 9 a.m. when the man was driving a Lincoln Navigator westbound on 18 Mile Rd. A silver Ford Fusion traveling north on Mound Rd reportedly entered the intersection against a red traffic signal, leading to the crash.
Authorities reported that the impact caused the SUV to roll over. The driver, who was the sole occupant, was ejected from the vehicle. He was given emergency aid at the crash site before being taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His name has not been released.
The intersection remained closed for several hours while crews cleared debris and removed the vehicles involved.
