What Factors Are Commonly Examined After a Single-Vehicle Rollover Crash?
When a vehicle leaves the roadway and overturns, several factors are usually examined to better understand how the crash occurred. Investigators may examine roadway conditions, vehicle speed, weather, visibility, and any physical evidence left at the scene. Tire marks, damage patterns, and the vehicle’s final resting position can provide additional insight into the sequence of events.
Rollover crashes are among the most severe types of traffic accidents because occupants can be exposed to greater injury risks, especially if they are not fully restrained. Vehicle design, roadway features, and driver actions may all influence the likelihood of a rollover occurring. Information gathered after these incidents can help clarify what happened and contribute to a broader understanding of roadway safety and crash prevention.
