Gilman, WI (August 19, 2026) – An 8-year-old child died Monday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle while crossing County Rd H near Polley Ln in Taylor County.
The collision happened around 3 p.m. Monday, August 18, in the Township of Aurora near Gilman. A preliminary investigation found that a northbound vehicle was traveling on County Rd H when the child entered the roadway.
The youngster had reportedly finished checking a mailbox on the east side of the road and was crossing toward the west side when the vehicle struck them. The driver and other occupants were not injured.
Emergency units from multiple jurisdictions assisted at the site. Investigators are still gathering details as they continue their investigation. Our heartfelt condolences go to the child’s family and loved ones.
