Bel Air, MD (September 14, 2026) – An 81-year-old woman was killed Friday, September 11, after being struck by a car while crossing the street in Bel Air, according to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded around 7:50 p.m. to the 100 block of Royal Oak Drive, where they found Joanne Philipovich. She was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma, where she later died from her injuries.
The sheriff’s office said preliminary information indicated that Philipovich was crossing the roadway when she was struck. The area did not have a marked crosswalk or overhead lighting.
The driver remained at the scene, was not cited for negligence, and was released, according to the sheriff’s office. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under review.
