Leeds, UT (January 3, 2026) – Three juveniles sustained injuries on January 2 after a side-by-side utility vehicle crashed along Danish Ranch Road near Leeds. The off-road incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. and involved four teenage occupants—two boys and two girls—riding together in the UTV.
According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the UTV lost control on a rain-slicked curve, sliding off the road and down an embankment. First responders said the vehicle was moving too fast for the conditions, and the wet dirt road made it difficult for the driver to maintain control. Emergency personnel from area rescue teams arrived on scene to treat the injured and assess the crash site.
Both boys and one girl were transported to St. George Regional Hospital with injuries that required further evaluation. Their current conditions have not been released. The Sheriff’s Office has indicated the area is prone to accidents after rainfall due to low-traction surfaces and steep embankments. Authorities are continuing their investigation.
Our thoughts are with the injured teens, and we hope for their safe and speedy recovery.
UTV Accidents in Washington County
Washington County’s rugged terrain and scenic trails are a frequent destination for UTV riders, especially near Danish Ranch Rd. While off-roading can be thrilling, it also presents real dangers—particularly after wet weather when roads become slick, and traction is compromised. Speeding on muddy or uneven terrain significantly raises the risk of rollover crashes, especially when younger or inexperienced riders are behind the wheel. Authorities routinely respond to incidents like the January 2 crash, often pointing to wet conditions and unsafe speeds as key contributing factors. Awareness and caution are essential when navigating backcountry roads.
UTV safety starts with responsible operation and preparation. Riders should always wear helmets, use seatbelts or harnesses if available, and reduce speed during inclement weather or unfamiliar trail conditions. Parents are encouraged to supervise youth drivers and ensure they receive proper instruction before operating any off-road vehicle. Understanding the risks of wet terrain and respecting speed limits can help prevent serious injury.
