How DUI-Related Crashes in Residential Areas Are Investigated
Crashes involving suspected impairment in residential areas are reviewed by examining driver behavior, vehicle path, and scene evidence. Investigators often assess whether a vehicle left the roadway unexpectedly and what factors may have contributed.
In cases where a vehicle enters private property, damage patterns and impact points help reconstruct the vehicle’s movement before and after the collision.
Witness accounts and physical evidence from the scene are also used to establish timelines. When impairment is suspected, additional testing and investigative steps are typically conducted to determine the driver’s condition at the time of the crash.
