Glades County, FL (January 6, 2026) – A tragic head-on collision claimed the life of a 31-year-old woman from Tampa and left two others injured late on January 1 along County Road 74 in rural Glades County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash took place Monday night as the Tampa woman traveled westbound on CR-74. For reasons still under investigation, she crossed into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with an SUV driven by a 37-year-old man from Loxahatchee.
Emergency responders arrived quickly, but the woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Troopers confirmed she was pronounced dead on-site. The driver of the SUV sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for further medical treatment. A 19-year-old male passenger in the SUV received minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under active investigation by FHP, and no further details about contributing factors have been released. The identities of those involved have not yet been made public, pending official notification and reporting.
