Santa Clarita, CA (January 7, 2026) – A multi-vehicle crash involving a semi-trailer, a box truck, and a passenger car left one person dead early Tuesday morning on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Santa Clarita, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred at approximately 3:00 a.m. on January 6 on the northbound side of I-5 near Magic Mountain Pkwy. Investigators determined that a gold Toyota Camry, a semi-truck, and a box truck were all involved in the crash. The force of the impact caused the box truck to overturn, contributing to a hazardous scene and extensive traffic disruption.
Emergency crews responded promptly and assisted those involved. Despite their efforts, one person was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene. The identity of the victim has not yet been made public, and it remains unclear whether additional injuries occurred.
Three lanes on the northbound side of the freeway were closed for approximately three hours as authorities conducted their investigation and cleared debris from the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
